info360 Addresses Enterprise IT Transformation in the New Paradigm of Social & Mobile Across the Enterprise

Newton, MA – info360 (June 12-14, 2012; Jacob Javits Convention Center), North America’s largest and most comprehensive enterprise content event, will provide information technology (IT) professionals with the tools they need to securely join data streams, connect mobile devices to established networks and boost operational efficiency.

This year’s show marks its return to New York City, a hub for IT industry professionals and an easy to access location for senior executives and young professionals in the finance, insurance, government, healthcare and education sectors.

“The content management lifecycle is at the center of info360,” says Wendy Loew, group show director, Questex Media Group, the sponsor and producer of info360. “The show connects attendees with technologies that create, share and mine content – ultimately, the tools that IT professionals and marketers need to leverage the information they have at their fingertips and enhance the bottom line.”

Five focused pavilions will be featured at info360, providing attendees with access to insight and actionable intelligence as they navigate the unique challenges posed by the rapidly changing IT landscape.

  • The SharePoint Pavilion

Finding ways to efficiently leverage business intelligence and streamline content management can present IT professionals with significant hurdles. The SharePoint Pavilion will allow attendees to interact with leading service providers in this dynamic space. Exhibitors in the nearly sold-out pavilion include FileTrail, OpenText and Colligo Networks.

  • Social, Mobile, Local Pavilion (SoMoLo)

The security, profitability, and management challenges posed by the new era of social, mobile and local trends can be met by visiting expert exhibitors in this brand-new specialty technology area, with corresponding conference tracks.

  • Big Data Zone

This new focus area is designed to help enterprise IT buyers find better ways to communicate and collaborate while making the right information available to the right people, when and where they need it. Business intelligence and data analytics applications, data storage, digital asset management systems, and search and indexing solutions will be highlighted.

  • Cloud Zone

Whether it’s public, private or hybrid, today’s cloud computing environments require agile applications to meet today’s business needs. Attendees will see a variety of cloud solutions and applications including enterprise collaboration, document management, business process management, mobile content management, SaaS applications and business productivity apps.

  • Innovation Alley

The smallest of start-ups frequently possess the most radically transformative ideas in the tech space. Attendees can discover big ideas from niche solutions providers in Innovation Alley, where the up-and-comers are gathered in one easy-to-navigate space.

Complementing the info360 exhibits is a robust education program featuring over 60 conference sessions addressing the critical issues and trends impacting today’s IT professionals. Conference sessions are organized into several tracks including: Social Business, Enterprise Collaboration, Mobile Business, Content Management Basics, Big Data & Analytics, Cloud Infrastructure, SharePoint, Data Capture, and Records Management.

Three keynote addresses, which are open to all attendees, are also part of the agenda. Speeches will be delivered by prominent industry leaders including David Sacks, Founder/CEO of Yammer, Inc. (Wednesday, June 13), Kendall Collins, VP and GM, Chatter of Salesforce.com (Thursday, June14) and Aaron Levie, Co-founder/CEO of Box (Thursday, June 14).

Rounding out the program is a pre-conference workshop from the Real Story Group, titled “The Right Way to Buy Business Technology,” and AIIM Certificate programs on SharePoint and Enterprise Content Management (ECM), all of which are scheduled for Tuesday, June 12. SANS, a leading resource for computer security training, certification and research, will also co-locate training sessions and a special technology pavilion with info360.  Training sessions, covering Mobile Device Security and Cloud Security Fundamentals, will be held on June 12 and 13.  The SANS Security pavilion will be open during regular info360 show hours on June 13 and 14.

Additional details about the entire education program will be announced shortly.

Increase 1000 Records Maximum Page Size of Active Directory

Just wanted to share a common question that is always asked on why Active Directory returns only 1000 results when you perform a query.  It is a limitation imposed by Active Directory by default, but it does not mean you cannot increase that values.  You can always increase it by changing the MaxPageSize setting in Active Directory but do it with proper caution as it set at 1000 for a reason.

Now if you know the implications of changing it like slowing down the performance of your Active Directory Operations then here is how to increse it.

All you need is to use Ntdsutil.exe which you can type on the run command but if you are using Windows 2008 make sure run the command prompt as an administrator

Once you typed it it will show you the command prompt and follow these steps to increase the limit.

  1. At the Ntdsutil.exe command prompt, type “LDAP policies”, and then hit ENTER.
  2. Now type “Set MaxPageSize to 5000″. -> Change 5000 to the Max results you want
  3. To view the changes, type “Show Values”
  4. To commit the changes, type “Commit Changes”
  5. type “q” to quit

On the lighter side : Google Humor

I think even its just once in a while its nice to add some non serious articles (still technically inclined) in a technical blog like this and I would want to start with this post.  This is regarding easter eggs you find in Google Products (at least the one that I know of).  Easter eggs as the name implies are not literal egss that you can find online but it a term for some funny or playful messages, multimedia, application behavior or jokes hidden inside Google or any other applications.  These are done by developers to put some fun when developing their applications, I used to do that with the applications that I had developed before.

Here is the list

Google search

Now lets start with Google search, everyone knows that Google is a really powerful engine but sometimes its not as serious as you think just try searching for the following terms

1. “recursion” – if you know the meaning if recursion then you will easily get this one. Did you mean: Recursion, Didnt I just typed that.

2. “ascii art” – Type this one and you will see Google’s logo as Ascii art. Make sure it all in lower case changing the case wont work.

3. “anagram” – Type this one and it will rearrange the word for you to read as “nag a ram”

4. “answer to life, the universe and everything” – It will fire up calculator and yeild you 42 as an answer.  Which is referenced from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

5. “number of horns on a unicorn” – It will fire up calculator and yeild, yes you guessed it right 1.

6. “once in a blue moon” – It will fire up a calculator which will yeild 1.16699016 × 10-8 hertz for an answer or if you convert that to years from seconds it will be roughly around 2.7 years

April Fools Day

I guess everybody practices or at least know what an April fools day it and here are some from Google. I even remember I was nearly fooled by that lunar datacentre.

1. Mentalplex - Search by Projecting mental image in your mind

2. Pigeon Rank – Pegions rank your websites.

3. Google Copernicus Center – Jobs and Data centre in the moon, I nearly applied for this one :)

4. Google Gulp – Drink that maximizes surfing efficiency.

5. Google Romance - Soulmate Search Engine

6. Gmail Paper – Google prints out emails for free cost including delivery.

7. Google TiSP – Free in-home wireless broadband service using your Toilet Bowl
Google Language Versions

Now you might have seen localized Google version like when you had your vacation in Switzerland and your Google defaulted to http://www.google.ch/ or even in Hong Kong which defautled to http://www.google.com.hk/, where Google is localized in their national language but there are some other funny languages that Google is available in.

1. Klingon - Trekkies change your homepage now!

2. Pig Latin – Awesomeway! ownay eythay antcay understandway emay ownay

3. Elmer Fudd - How about bugs bunny

4. Hacker - r3411y, +h15 i5 c00l

5. Pirate - Alright, “Slap me with a fish!” go t’ th’ next one

6. Swedish Chef – I dunt ifee knoo vhere-a thees ooreegineted

Games

Now finally some games

1. Easter Bunny Catch -  You have to catch the eggs in order how Google is spelled and the proper colors.

2. Pacman – An actual working version of Pacman but with the walls spelled as Google.

Bonus

If you know google reader, while in that site type the Contra cheat buttons : UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, then you will see the ninja.

Now you know what google reader is it is nice if you can add my blogs into it.

My new post!

My new years resolution is to have a blog related to Software Technology which talks about what I am doing at my work and outside of it. I am doing this to share some valuable experiences to those who might be needing and reading this and as well as associate my name to Software Development more rather than Photography. Because if you google “Raymund Macaalay” it shows all my photography stuff which is my hobby.
